THE 2010 FESTIVAL

If you missed the 2010 Pilton Festival, here are a few photos from across the weekend. Keep going to the bottom!

Parade in High Street

Above is the Grand Parade led by Town Crier Tom Evans and Samba Sol at the end of Barnstaple High Street......

.... and below is a Green Man on stilts.

Pilton Street was decked out for the day with bunting put up by the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service - many thanks to them.

After an early shower, the crowds were treated to a sunny day. Below they are listening to a band on the Top Stage at the top of Pilton Street, opposite the Almshouses and below the Church which had a wonderful Flower Festival (see picture below). And thanks to the people at the top of Pilton Street who helped by letting us use their electricity for the Top Stage.

Below is one of many wonderful flower displays in the Church - 'Pentecost' - and there were a dozen more. Click on the image to see some a selection of the displays.

And thanks to the Air Sea Rescue helicopter from Chivenor which came by to salute the festivalgoers.

And finally, volunteers cleared up at the end of a day and produced a lot of material for recycling - glass and plastic bottles, corn starch 'glasses' (for composting) and cans - as well as a fair amount of just refuse. Thanks to these volunteers, the Army Cadets and Greensweep at North Devon District Council for clearing up after everyone.
